About the Office

John Affleck-Graves

The Executive Vice President is responsible for oversight of the University’s administrative functions and units. Specifically, these functions include the University’s finances and investments, human resource activities, information technologies, and business operations.

The Office of the Executive Vice President has experienced many great leaders in its tenure, including Rev. Ned Joyce, C.S.C., Rev. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., Rev. Timothy Scully, C.S.C., and current EVP Dr. John Affleck-Graves. Five members of the University’s Officer Group and a staff of three other professionals support the Executive Vice President in administering an annual operating budget of more than $1 billion, endowment of more than $5 billion, and a work force of more than 4,000 employees.

The following positions report directly to the Executive Vice President and are responsible for ensuring that the University’s administrative functions operate effectively and serve the mission of the institution:

Vice President and Chief Investment Officer

Scott C. Malpass is vice president and chief investment officer. He is responsible for investment of the University’s endowment, working capital, pension and life income assets.

Vice President for Business Operations

James J. Lyphout is the University’s vice president for business operations. His responsibilities include oversight of the campus infrastructure as well as the planning and design of all construction projects, including the development of the 2002 and 2008 Campus Master Plans.

Vice President for Finance

John A. Sejdinaj is the vice president for finance. His responsibilities include managing the offices of budget and planning, student financial services and the controller’s group.

Associate Vice President for Human Resources

Robert K. McQuade is the associate vice president for human resources. He oversees employee services, benefits, compensation, employee relations, recruiting, employment, and training and development.

Chief Information Officer

Gordon D. Wishon is the University’s chief information officer. He is responsible for the Office of Information Technologies, the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing on campus.

Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice President

Michael J. Chapple is the Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice President. In this capacity, he oversees the operations of the Office of the Executive Vice President and manages strategic projects on behalf of the Executive Vice President.
