Associate Vice President, New Business Development
John (“Jack”) R. Curran was appointed to his current position in December of 2015. His responsibilities include working with the University’s departments and offices, as well as local, regional and state organizations to pursue and finalize business relationships that have been identified as advancing the strategic priorities of the University or the economic development efforts of the governmental organizations. The interaction with key constituents within the University is focused on advancing the technology developed by the University and leveraging the University’s capabilities and assets. As Associate Vice President, New Business Development, Curran works with local, regional and state organizations to assist with private and governmental economic development efforts that will have a positive effect on the University in both direct and indirect ways.
Prior to his current position, Curran worked at Textron Inc. for more than 30 years. He held numerous positions over that period, ranging from tax counsel to Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions. In his role as Vice President, Curran led Textron’s activities in acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and similar transactions. Prior to joining Textron Inc., he worked at Touche Ross & Co in Boston as a tax consultant.
He is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a JD degree from Boston College Law School and an LLM degree from Boston University School of Law.
