Critical Patching for ND Servers Begins Thursday, January 11

On Thursday, January 11, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (ET) Friday, January 12, Office of Information Technologies (OIT) system administrators will patch all ND servers. These critical patches are necessary due to the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities.

During this time, the patches will be rolled out to each server individually. Many major services will be UNAVAILABLE for some or all of the maintenance period including:

  • Banner and all administrative applications including:

    • ODS reporting and all dependent applications (including GLEZ, PeopleEZ and Person Profile)
    • Administrative systems (INB, OnBase and other Banner-related systems)
    • Payroll and benefits information, vacation/sick days, class search, and other self-service (SSB) systems
    • Batch and real-time integrations with Banner
  • Advance and other Oracle databases and related applications
  • Event Management System (EMS)
  • DT6 (Applications load to Banner)
  • Tableau
  • Business Objects
  • Course Instructor Feedback
  • Permit parking (BOSSCARS)
  • DegreeWorks (Graduation Progress System)

Some of the major services that will NOT be impacted include:

  • Internet access
  • Wired and wireless network services
  • Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive)
  • www.nd.edu (main ND web page)
  • Cayuse
  • Sakai
  • VPN
  • VoIP and Centrex telephones
