Jim LaBella Named Restaurant Manager of the Year

Campus Dining assistant director of Duncan Student Center restaurant operations Jim LaBella was named Restaurant Manager of the Year at the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association’s annual Stars of the Industry Awards Dinner in Indianapolis on November 14, 2018. This award recognizes an individual who consistently goes above and beyond their job duties to provide outstanding customer service in the hospitality industry through professionalism, teamwork and guest interactions.

Under Jim’s leadership, Star Ginger, Modern Market and Hagerty Family Café were successfully opened simultaneously, with a precise timeline and flawless execution in January of 2018.

 

“Jim took ownership of the staff hiring, training and development for the three restaurants. This ownership ultimately led to a success that not surprisingly became the center of attention for campus as it opened, and continues as a focal point of campus today,” said Luigi Alberganti, director of retail dining. “From product consistency to employee and guest satisfaction, Jim was able to capitalize on his extensive industry experience, delivering results that surpassed industry standards for new operations.”

 

Prior to his oversight of the Duncan Student Center restaurants, Jim led the food and beverage operations at LaFortune Student Center. During his tenure at LaFortune, he was in charge of opening more than a dozen franchised operations in addition to many more self-branded concepts.

 

During his 25 years at the University, Jim has proven himself to be an integral member of the Campus Dining team, known for his integrity, responsibility and dedication. Congratulations, Jim, on this well deserved honor!
