History of the Worker Participation Committee

From 2014 to 2018, Notre Dame’s Worker Participation Committee (WPC) reviewed the University’s Licensing Code of Conduct, with a particular emphasis on the prohibition on the production of Notre Dame-licensed products in countries such as China that do not give workers the legal right to organize and form independent labor unions.

During several forums from 2015 to 2018, the committee shared information it has gathered with the campus community, while at the same time taking in excellent feedback from faculty, staff and students. Informed by this feedback, the committee has continued its work of reviewing the policy in order to make recommendations. In May 2018, the Worker Participation Committee submitted a report  that included recommendations for changes to the Freedom of Association Policy.
