All Notre Dame faculty, staff and students received the email message below on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Lime will remove all existing bicycles from the South Bend area by mid-May including those at the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College and Holy Cross College. This effort is already underway. The mobility company, which is transitioning away from pedal bicycles in favor of electric bicycles and scooters, recently informed the University of its decision. Users with balances on their Lime accounts will be contacted soon regarding refunds, the company said. The University remains committed to safe, sustainable and affordable transportation solutions for students, faculty and staff, and will continue to explore opportunities for increased mobility on campus that do not contribute to transportation-related emissions.
