Campus Dining, in partnership with Student Government, Student Affairs, Athletics, and Facilities Design and Operations, is proud to announce that the North Dining Hall renovation is complete. While the physical transformation of the facility began on October 17, 2016, the project as a whole has been in progress for more than two years.
The result of the hard work of so many is a contemporary, reimagined North Dining Hall. Improvements include a new southeast entrance, social space in the south lobby, the addition of the NDH Marketplace café, new and updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, improved accessibility, modernization of the kitchen and supporting areas, renewal of the dining room finishes and accommodations for increasing allergen-free, vegan and other alternative menu options.
Executive Chef Gregory Larson and staff have great plans to utilize the new facilities including more display cooking and made to order dishes, increased vegetarian and vegan offerings and more plant forward and whole grain selections. Favorites like the grill and home style menus will continue to be offered alongside a greater variety of international choices ranging from Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese to Caribbean and French.
“We are excited for our Notre Dame family to experience the new North Dining Hall,” said Chris Abayasinghe, senior director of Campus Dining. “The brighter, contemporary atmosphere, varied seating options, and expanded food offerings will all support the rich tradition of breaking bread together and building community that is so important here at Notre Dame.”
