Using Technology While Working Remotely

Human Resources has created a Remote Work Toolkit that provides many resources and links to more information about technology that will be helpful as you transition to working remotely.

Many employees will use a video conferencing tool called Zoom to meet remotely.  To prepare to use Zoom, follow these steps BEFORE YOUR MEETING:

  • Download Zoom to your computer and log into the Zoom application using your Notre Dame NetID and password

  • Review the Zoom Quick Reference Guide so you know how to manage your session

  • Review the Zoom Etiquette Guide to ensure the best online meeting experience for yourself and your fellow employees

If you have other questions, you can view the article on Teaching, Learning and Working While Away From Campus from OIT or contact the OIT Help Desk using one of the methods below.

Applications That May Need A Virtual Private Network (VPN)

If you are working remotely, you may be required to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the applications that you want to use. This is due to licensing restrictions.

The Office of Information Technologies (OIT) has compiled a list of applications that need a VPN. You may need to scroll down the page to see the list of applications.
